Guns N’ Roses is reuniting for the first time in 23 years. The “Not in This Lifetime” North American reunion tour will include lead singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, keyboardist Dizzy Reed, guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer, and new keyboardist Melissa Reese. The band kicked off the tour with a performance at the Troubadour in Los Angeles on April 1.
The band has not said much about their reunion to the press. Drummer Steven Adler has not commented on the tour and was not at the Troubadour. According to L.A. Weekly, he was having back surgery and may not be part of the tour at all. Guitarist Izzy Stradlin is also not playing on the reunion tour.
Keyboardist Chris Pitman joined Guns N’ Roses in 1998 and was involved with the band through 2014. The group has not commented on why he left. Pitman tweeted recently that the band was going to play Coachella, but that tweet was later deleted.
It is also unclear how Axl Rose and Slash reconciled. Rose said in an interview with Billboard in 2009 that a reunion would never happen.
Guns N’ Roses members have not commented on whether or not they will be recording new music. They have adopted a policy of not granting any interviews.
