A new comprehensive funding program designed specifically for women will hit kickstarter next week. The program, “WomenGetFunded” has been created by accomplished author, entrepreneur, and Silicon Valley Angel Investor Dr Alicia Castillo Holley.
Research shows that women-led business lag behind in all forms of funding (debt, equity, crowdfunding, etc). The most staggering difference is in Venture Capital, where only 2.7% of business backed by VC funds in the last 15 years were led by women.
“The numbers just aren’t there for women-led business when it comes to funding – said Dr. Castillo Holley. I’m on a mission to change that. Women want to get funded, they just don’t know how. Like the vast majority of entrepreneurs and small business owners, women also suffer from some form of funding illiteracy. People need to be well prepared to seek capital, no matter who they are.”
The online program will be sold exclusively through a Kickstarter campaign, from April 15th to May 15th at a highly discounted price to the first 100 backers. The program follows a methodological approach to funding: the know-how, and the know-why. It includes written materials, videos, coaching sessions, guest speakers, forms, and a strong network of individuals who want to support women so they can manage their own funding process.
