Advanced Learning Institute organized their 7th Internet and Digital Workplace Summit June 20-22, 2017 in San Francisco. The theme of the event was boosting internal communications, collaboration, productivity, and innovation with the latest enterprise intranets, portals, and social platforms. Geoff Ables, C5 Insight Managing Partner, was one of the event’s featured presenters and was a workshop leader.
Ables presented the Workshop titled, “Building an Intranet & Digital Workplace Governance Strategy that Drives User Adoption.” He developed the session from more than 10 years of watching organizations struggle with defining and implementing governance related to digital workplace projects. Ables went back to basics to convey an understanding of what governance really means, why governance is important, and how organizations can minimize complexity in governance related to their intranet projects. He also discussed how to develop a governance strategy, important elements of a governance plan, and how to inform both employees and upper management on new intranet guidelines and rules.
Ables also led the interactive session, “Lead Your Leaders: Go Beyond Buy-in and Gain Leadership Engagement.” Although most business leaders understand that a successful intranet project can play a significant role in productivity, innovation, and employee satisfaction, few understand the role they should play in intranet success. The session provided principles and practical tips on going beyond leadership buy-in to gain active engagement from the leadership team, teaching employees that change can begin with them regardless their level in the organization, and how to transform an intranet into a mission-critical tool for leaders to use daily.
Ables is the author of “The LUCK Principle, Business Results at the Intersection of People & Profit.” In the book he teaches how to harness the power of people, process, and technology to transform a business into a workplace that balances a people-first culture with bottom-line results. The book is available in both paperback and Kindle versions on Amazon at https://www.Amazon.com/dp/B01N0QW5H4.
