Sabrina Ali shares her first novel, The Face of Deception, which has earned a gold seal of literary excellence.
Fueled with teenage dramas of finding her freedom and identity, Sarah O’Connor of Irish and East Indian descent, does not live like those normal teens her age. As the result of second generation immigrants to Canada, she faces cultural clashes and conservative nature of her mother who forbids romance explorations. Sarah, along with her best friend, Amrit, seeks their emancipation and fun escapades with their boyfriends that later leads to casualties they have never imagined. As the terror hunts them from being disowned by their families and unfamiliar faces masked in treachery, they soon realize the face of deception lurking in their helplessness and besmirching their innocence.
Sabrina brings up current struggles of high school students as the protagonist says:
“The world is filled with hate, I see
So I do what I must to set my self free.”
The US Review of Books lauds the plot and the sub-plot thickening as the readers flip more pages, “The author’s skill in eliciting teenage angst is paired with a wicked sense of plot twist that keeps the pages turning. Secrecy in families is also explored, and most of the characters wind up being understandable if not completely admirable in the end.”
Compelling, provoking and delicately woven, parents and young individuals are urged to learn and uncover the missing pieces of today’s generation.
