She resigned from corporate America to become more impactful to her immediate and surrounding community through her Boutique and nonprofit organization located in downtown Stockton CA. It is not just a boutique, but also an avalanche of services.
About Pretty Lady
The boutique was opened in Jan 2017 but founded in the owner’s garage in Okinawa Japan in 2014. The idea to open the boutique was conceived with the desire to provide new and gently used clothing, shoes and accessories to women and girls at affordable rates. It also has customs T-Shirts studio.
However, Pretty lady is more than a boutique; it donates a portion of its profits to inspire women and girls in their respective careers. Pretty lady coaches women and girls with job readiness and donates interview attires for women on probation or parole while coaching them to get back to work with confidence. Pretty lady strives to lift women up and encourage them to realize their potential.
T. Denise Manning is a retired US Army veteran, certified life coach who served as the first life coach employed full-time at an HBCU, Florida A & M University. She has also travelled the world coaching youth and adults in Africa, India and Asia to name a few. The author of three books founded the nonprofit Pretty Lady Inc. for the vulnerable and high-risk delinquent girls. Pretty lady Inc has a mentor program for girls between the ages of 13 and 21 years of age. The mentoring group, pretty lady sisterhood has transformed the life of over 60 girls that lives in Stockton CA by developing result oriented, innovative strategies of conflict resolution, mediation, personal and academic discipline, weekly meet ups and the list goes on.
Many may be quick to run aspersion on her decision but she is however not perturbed by it. To her, nothing matters except for the services she can render to her community. Manning knows she’s up for a challenge but finds it rewarding to finally be able to break away from corporate America and serve the community without restrictions or politics.
Stockton CA has lots of security challenges. It has the highest sales tax rate in CA, and has been ranked by multiple sources as one of the most violent cities in CA. It’s police department is ranked 5th in the nation for being the most violent and to top that, Stockton is #1 worst place to open a business in the nation, per CNBC.
