Montreal, Canada – May 12, 2016 – Fredrik Hultqvist, CEO and Founder of GameArtisans.org, is assembling Team V2, a dedicated development team, to create bigger and better game art challenges for digital artists around the globe. A Kickstarter campaign was launched to raise $45,000 CAD by June 10, 2016. The funds received will be used to construct a work space for Team V2 – a large art studio to host events such as challenge creation, talks, art expositions, mentorship programs, life drawing sessions, workshops, house resident artists and much more.
As Founder of GameArtisans.org, Fredrik Hultqvist is a director, artist and web developer with a talent for creating exciting international online art competitions. Having worked in both Games and Web, he enjoys bringing these two passions together to create challenges of 1-30 participants in size, to full Olympic-sized competitions that attract over 6,000 artists and more than ten additional online communities who collectively compete for World Champion Standings. These events have attracted major sponsors that include Blizzard, Wacom, Corel and Pixologic. Challenges such as DominanceWar.com and UnearthlyChallenge.com were even featured in various magazines and online news sources around the world.
In order for Fredrik to form Team V2 in Montreal, the ideal, workshop studio needs to be constructed as home base for the team. This will allow them to launch world class art challenges for digital artists, and introduce a new level of excellence for free global art challenges that are fun for students and industry professionals everywhere.
V2 Montreal is where artists can develop skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, Zbrush, and traditional art forms. The studio will run a series of evening events such as figure drawing, demo nights, portfolio reviews, and art jams. When V2 is not in use, the space is designed to host fashion shows, yoga, and corporate events.
“I want to make bigger and better art challenges for digital artists everywhere. Online challenges foster creativity, promote networking, create job opportunities for artists, and help sustain a passion for art in an industry that frequently results in burnout. Challenges make a difference for artists and because of this I am still darn proud to create them!” ~ Fredrik Hultqvist
