Hong Kong Biotech Horizon 2016, a series of events covering a wide range of topics that interest scientific research community at large, started at Hong Kong Science Park on May 25th. Hong Kong Biotechnology Organization, the organizer for the series of events, announced that the events will run till May 28th. The organizer said that the key objective of the event is to bring together scientific researchers, entrepreneurs and technology developers from different parts of the world. They also said that the event is being webcasted live.
The three and a half day long international conference will focus on ‘Energy Metabolism’ and ‘Neuron-Glia Interactions in Brain’ and will be followed by a public talk on emergent technologies in health, longevity and neurology. The events are aimed at practising neuroscientists who take deep interest in brain energy metabolism. Though the events will include fellow researcher presentations, poster sessions, and informal chit-chats with scientists and researchers, the high spot the series of events now taking place in Hong Kong Science Park is the presence of eminent scientists, according to the organizers.
“Some of the distinguished delegates who are gracing the series of events this year are Professor Arne Schousboe from University of Copenhagen, Professor Ursula Sonnewald from Norwegian University of Science and Technology and Professor Vladimir Parpura from University of Alabama Birmingham, just to name a few. We hope to provide a platform for our participants to actively exchange ideas and establish contacts and future collaborations from around the world throughout the conference.” said Professor Albert Cheung-Hoi Yu, the conference president in charge of managing the ongoing event.
Professor Yu also added that the public talk will address one of the most debated health topics of this time, ageing brain. He said that they have received active support from two of the world’s most peer-reviewed science journals, Science Translational Medicine and Science.
“People who are interested to watch the live webcast for the event can visit http://hkbio.9d.com.hk/ and get instant access to the live proceedings of the event”, said the Hong Kong coordinator for the event.
