Houston, TX – June 2016 – Linbeck Group, a Texas-based, technology-driven building construction firm, announces completion of JLABS@TMC, a Johnson & Johnson’s incubator lab housed within the Texas Medical Center’s Innovation Institute. JLABS, part of Johnson & Johnson Innovation, LLC, is a network of life science incubators providing emerging companies many of the advantages of being in a big company, without the capital investment.
Located at 2450 Holcombe Boulevard in Houston and valued at more than $11.5 million, the 34,000-square-foot project consisted of an enhanced infrastructure to support the network of 14 common spaces, 22 private labs, two concept or shared labs with 32 workstations, 34 offices and 4 Conference Rooms. The JLABS space also includes a technological hub housed in a highly finished structured pod that serves as the central communication portal between the scientist entrepreneurs and Johnson & Johnson locations around the globe.
Linbeck started preconstruction services in November 2014, utilizing Linbeck Applied Technology (LAT) to support design efforts through its laser scanning technologies to verify existing conditions. Project stakeholders utilized Linbeck TeamBuild®, Linbeck’s proprietary technology for project controls, and Bluebeam and Box for document management. Construction began May 2015 with Substantial Completion achieved on December 21, 2015.

JLABS @ TMC public spaces and interiors were designed by Gensler, the San Francisco-based architect firm and the laboratories by Houston based PhiloWilke.
