To be able to link horses and fashion has been a life long dream of mine and winning in Dubai is something that makes me very proud. I was overwhelmed with winning in Sydney, and this inspired me to use my takings to fly to Dubai and try my luck on the international stage. The Dubai World Cup is the richest race in the world and I feel honored to have been chosen for this prestigious title.
After winning Sydney’s “Myer Fashion on the Fields Award” and “Longine’s Most Elegant Lady” at Royal Randwick, Sydney based LaToyah Asha won the prestigious prize of “Best Dressed Lady Runner up” competing against over 300 other ladies for the prized Jaguar car at this year’s festival which was held over the Easter long weekend.

The biggest sporting and social fashion occasion on the Dubai calendar, the US$30m Dubai World Cup day is held at Meydan Racecourse on the last Saturday in March every year.

Not only did the couture model/ fashion blogger win runner up, she wore a hat by London based milliner, Anna Pribyola, of Annabelle Millinery fame, who took out ‘Best Hat’ in the Best Hat category. It was the winners’ circle for both Australians on the International stage.

“To be able to link horses and fashion has been a life long dream of mine and winning in Dubai is something that makes me very proud. I was overwhelmed with winning in Sydney, and this inspired me to use my takings to fly to Dubai and try my luck on the international stage. The Dubai World Cup is the richest race in the world and I feel honored to have been chosen for this prestigious title.”

As rewarding as this has been, it still gives LaToyah immense pleasure to come home to her horses. By day she teaches equestrian at Centennial Stables and is working on a new app called HorseBuzz which will be the prime social platform linking the equestrian world.

Currently LaToyah has a successful blog called Horseshoes and Highheels, a hotspot for all the latest news, insights, and tips for fashion, equestrian and women in business.  As LaToyah so succinctly states, “Fashion needs horses.” And we believe the industry needs LaToyah.

You can next see LaToyah in designs for Mathieu Salem and milliner Kerrie Stanley at the Celebrity Shine and Dine charity event which raises funds for the Make a Wish Foundation.

Later in the year LaToyah will organize a fashion parade in this year’s Hats for Hope which will take place on Friday 7th October at the Mural Hall Myer Bourke St Melbourne.  Apart from seeing the stellar work of a number of designers and models, you have the opportunity to take part in the auctioning of a private collection of Vintage Dior hats in support of Orygen – youth health services.

We urge you to support Hats for Hope in their fundraising endeavors in whatever way possible, as funds raised will go towards our world-class suicide preventions research programs that directly translates into new and improved interventions to prevent self-harm and save young lives.

“On behalf of all of us at Orygen, including the many young people who use our services daily, we thank you in advance for your support and wish the Hats for Hope committee all the best,” – Professor Patrick McGorry AD  Orygen Executive Director.
