FORT MILL, South Carolina – March 22, 2016 – “The Adventures of Peanut” is a captivating children’s book series that follows the exciting childhood of an African-American girl named Peanut. This is one of the first series that features a female girl that is also ‘of color,’ which brings a character that African-American children can relate to. The first book in the series “Daddy’s Girl” has already been on the publisher’s Best Sellers List. The author, Martha Rucker, is excited to publish the second book “Chocolate Chip,” which is ready for publication. However, a she needs help from the community to make this possible. Rucker launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $3,620 by April 10, 2016. Funds received will raise money to release book two and kick start publication for the other eight books in the series.
Peanut’s adventures are exciting, fun, and entertaining. However, there’s more depth to this little girl’s story. The themes presented in the books transcend gender, race, and other social segmentation. Later books will teach children valuable lessons regarding fear, hurt, unconditional love, the uniqueness of each individual, and the important power of dignity. Each narrative illustrates a very positive series of lessons that resonates with young readers long after they turn the last page.
