These are radio frequency devices that use heat to produce a contracting effect, leading to skin tightening..

The fat grafting procedure is surprisingly straightforward. Dr. Palmer harvests the fat from the patient’s body (usually the abdomen or thighs), concentrates the fat, and then mixes the fat with Platelet Rich Plasma. Dr. Palmer then injects the fat into certain areas of the face to treat wrinkles, highlight youthful contours, and restore lost volume. IV sedation is used to keep patients comfortable.

The down time is typically 7-10 days with bruising and swelling being universal but relatively mild.

Fat grafting is often combined with other procedures, such as laser skin resurfacing, eyelid lift and neck rejuvenation, however it is quite effective as a stand alone procedure.

One other major benefit of fat grafting to the face that should be mentioned is the direct rejuvenating effects awarded the skin from the stem cells present in the fat. Ongoing studies are investigating augmentation of this rejuvenating effect and Dr. Palmer is following these developments closely.

Hurricane Dangers Beyond Structural Damage by Sanjeev Hansraj Seenath

Category 4 Hurricane Irma ripped across the Florida peninsula causing widespread damage and power outages. The Department of Homeland Security estimated that immediately after the storm over 15 million Floridian were without electricity. That is 3 out of 4 state residents were dark! Businesses, hospitals and schools have been closed due to a lack of power. In fact, over 35 hospitals across Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina were either forced evacuate or shut down. But the final statistics are far from tallied as it could be weeks until electricity is restored and the areas affected are properly assessed for post hurricane dangers.

One thing is certain, post hurricane dangers from building damage with water intrusion, flooding, and lack of operational HVAC, including temperature/humidity control poses health risks to building occupants when they return.

As interior dampness and humidity rise there are several environmental factors that can affect building heath. Even after a building structure has been physically recovered from water damage, occupant health issues can still linger. Though everything may appear visually restored, the interstitial side of a building’s structure might yet be teeming with chemical residue and/or microbial growth. Musty odors or discoloration of interior walls and other places are a primary indicator that microbial remediation is needed. If the discoloration is in multiple places, it is of even more concern as the interstitial sides could be 100 times greater than what is visibly seen.

Even if the building sustained no damage but was without power for an extended period, post hurricane dangers can still be ongoing. If the building’s HVAC system is down for time then temperature and humidity levels sharply rise creating an ideal ecosystem for mold growth. Once electricity is restored and the HVAC system is brought back online that mold, other hazardous microbes, and volatile organic compounds, as well as degraded fiberglass insulation can be distributed throughout the ductwork to the entire building. There is medical and scientific consensus that this situation poses a health risk to occupants.

Post hurricane dangers hidden from visual detection can include:

• Fungal/Mold Growth

• Bacteria like E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Legionella, etc.

• Volatile Organic Compounds

Professional evaluation, testing, and laboratory analysis is often needed to better identify the extent of water related damage, ongoing environmental conditions, HVAC cleanliness and other post hurricane dangers that might be hiding in an affected building. Environmental air, bulk, liquid, and surface samples should be collected from the affected areas for bacterial, chemical, and mold laboratory analysis. The environmental test results are critical to determine the microbial/chemical propagation, as well as to facilitate remedial action or justify decision making for any remedial measures.

Hiring an   indoor environmental test company to evaluate the ambient conditions of the structure, the HVAC system, interstitial wall cavities, the building’s envelope and more data points can determine the cause(s) of specific health concerns and provide the groundwork for remedial action.

Another option to get started finding post hurricane dangers in a building is economical DIY test kits. There are different types of kits available, such as the evalu air kit, that can be used to collect environmental samples for laboratory analysis. Microbial samples can be tested by using culture or non-culture based methods. If elevated levels microbes or VOCs are reported, then it is best to consult with an indoor environmental professional for a more comprehensive evaluation, analysis and remedial recommendations.

The Department of Homeland Security and FEMA issued a Major Disaster Declaration on September 10, 2017 for the state of Florida. DHS acting director Elaine Duke stated nearly 22,000 federal personnel are in Florida to assist in the recovery.

Huron County Peer Recovery Community Center to Celebrate with Fundraiser, Tim Ryan of A&E Featured Speaker

On February 24th, F I Community Housing will hold a Raffle for Recovery for their newest facility located in Norwalk. The Huron County Peer Recovery Community Center officially opened December 2nd and has been a beacon of hope for a four-county area.

Mike Pack, Director of the new Huron County Peer Recovery Community Center noted that with the dramatic increase in drug-related overdoses, the center provides the much-needed support to give people the opportunity to turn their lives around. The center, located in the heart of Ohio’s opioid-ravaged northwest, offers a variety of services all designed to meet the needs of anyone experiencing the effects of drug and alcohol addiction.

Mr. Pack recently stated, “A lot of communities across Ohio cannot afford to open a detox center or treatment center due to the cost. But every community can open a peer-to-peer center.”

“It’s a solution that works because peers are not above anybody and they are not below anybody. We are eye level. We can recognize mannerisms and behaviors that most people cannot. We can connect, understand, and help.”

The fundraising event, sponsored in part by Sharpnack Chevrolet-Buick-Cadillac will offer food, music, and auctions in addition to the raffle prizes. Ohio’s overdose deaths spiked in 2017, rising by 41 percent between May 2016 and May 2017, with the crisis showing no signs of abating. Drug overdoses claimed roughly 64,000 lives in the United States in 2016, with the vast majority related to opioids, helping to drive the average American life expectancy down in back-to-back years for the first time since the 1960s.

During his recent State of the Union Address, President Trump voiced his commitment to find a way to combat this crisis.

“My administration is committed to fighting the drug epidemic and helping get treatment for those in need, for those who have been so terribly hurt,” Trump said. “The struggle will be long and it will be difficult ― but, as Americans always do, in the end, we will succeed, we will prevail.”

As Trump and the states who declared a public health emergency work on coming up with a plan, United States Senator Rob Portman and others have praised F I Community Housing for trying to do their part. By giving those on the front lines of this crisis valuable resources to help prevent and reduce the chances of overdose or repeat overdose, F I and the new Huron County Center offers services where they are needed most.

Wilson’s goal for his community peer support model is to help with the long-term needs a person in recovery cannot receive in a traditional 30, 60, or 90-day treatment program. F I works closely with those in the programs to craft services that meet current needs.

Wilson commented, “We don’t objectify those that we serve, but get feedback from them, have them at the table, and listen to their suggestions.”

Human nature, personalities and egos are big factors in managing construction projects. The physical construction is the easiest part of the fabric of a project. The challenge is how to navigate through the multiple personalities, politics and agendas, not to mention avoiding litigation in an industry that is very litigious.

I have always told my students that Construction Management is 20% construction and 80% people skills.

Well, this is when I realized that each one has a different agenda, a different set of fears and liabilities, and each one is trying to push a solution that fit his/her agenda, not necessarily the best solution to the problem.

Relationship counselors often teach that when you enter into a relationship with a person, you’re taking in the person plus what they call “baggage,” which is all his/her background, flaws, strengths and pasts. The same applies to the project’s team that just met and has to interact with each other on a daily basis for the duration of the project.

Construction management is a fundamental realignment of traditional construction relationships. It removes management functions from both the contractor and the designer and places it in a specific entity: the construction manager.

The key to your success is to build a good rapport with the owner, your client, and get him/her to support you, as you face the multitude of decisions and problems.
