Organization asks the community to help rescue the forsaken and marginalized

Jeffreys Bay, South Africa – June 9, 2016 – Boulder Foundation launched a Generosity campaign to raise $148,000. Funds received will help Global Leadership Academy (GLA), a nonprofit high school in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, complete construction of the new school by the end of July 2016. The organization gives disadvantaged children living without hope a chance to step into new opportunities and escape the cycle of generational poverty. GLA believes that through strategic intervention and dedicated teachers, the Academy is changing the destinies of the less fortunate children in Africa.

The school and teachers have had such a significant influence that their students are now aspiring to become future presidents of Africa. Everyone remembers that one teacher who made a difference in their lives while they went to school. GLA’s teachers, administrators, counselors and staff members work tirelessly to stir interest and passion in these less fortunate kid’s heart. Global Leadership Academy is intentional about personal development in the discovery process of education.  Values like responsibility, integrity, honesty, respect, and trust are celebrated in and out of the classroom. The school’svision is to reach the potential, the dream inside of the students and call it out, believe in them, and affirm them as they go out to impact the nations.

Boulder Foundation has launched this campaign to help the school cope with the overwhelming demand on resources and to contribute to their expansion. Since the first class of 2012, GLA has had a 100% graduation rate each year (the regional average is 62%).  Those that have a 100% graduation rate are only 6% of the high schools in South Africa. The cost for a scholarship is approximately $83 per month or $1,000 per year, which includes tuition, school meals, uniforms, books and lab fees.
